September marks an end to summer, it’s the start of a new season and presents the perfect time to take stock and check in on how we are.

When it comes to taking care of our health, there are areas of our body which we tend-to regularly, the visible organs, such as our eyes and teeth. These appointments are preventative, tick box exercises, bringing us peace of mind.

Yet, that’s only one part of our health picture…

What about the invisible organs? The most important organ in our bodies is the brain. The central organ of the nervous system, it’s responsible for our thoughts, feelings, emotions, action, and functions.

Hopkins Medicine defines the human brain “The brain is a complex organ that controls thought, memory, emotion, touch, motor skills, vision, breathing, temperature, hunger, and every process that regulates our body. Together, the brain and spinal cord that extends from it make up the central nervous system, or CNS.”

When our brain isn’t functioning correctly, it effects every single part of our being. Our brains are electrical, producing rhythmic patterns of electrical activity, called brainwaves (Delta, Theta, Alpha, Beta, Gamma) to help us perform certain tasks such as high-focus tasks and sleep.

Sometimes brains can move into dysfunction, this is where there may be a high level of one particular brainwave, and our brains may need to be mapped and trained. For example, a high level of Beta brain wave in the brain can indicate prolonged levels of stress within the brain.

That’s exactly what we do from our clinic in Harrogate; we are able to map and compare your brain with others of the same age and sex (biomarkers) before analysing the results from the map. From those results, where necessary, we’ll create a training pathway to stabilise, regulate and optimise your brain.

Signs of dysregulation can be stress, overwhelm, PTSD, insomnia, trouble concentrating amongst other symptoms.

When our team are conducting their assessments, they are also checking for any pre-markers for cognitive decline conditions, making this an incredibly useful appointment for those concerned about the function of their brain.

How do we map the brain?

With a qEEG. A numerical analysis technique which we use in clinic. Our AI-synced helmet is placed comfortably on the head and reads information, which is sent directly to a cloud, from which we can analyse the results.

What is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a type of therapy that trains individuals to regulate their brain activity, it is based on real time monitoring of brain wave patterns using electroencephalogram.

What is Neuromodulation?

We provide non-invasive and safe external input to the brain using micro stimulation, Photo biomodulation, digitally altered sound and vagus nerve stimulation.

We can apply these techniques in a targeted and effective way using our advanced mapping technology both in clinic and when appropriate at home.

We have been at the forefront of the field for over 15 years helping over 500 people regulate their own brain wave activity.

When was the last time you had your brain checked?
